Child Support

Child support is almost a non-issue.  There is a statutory calculation that takes into consideration the gross monthly income of each parent and the amount of time each parent has the children, and then provides the amount of money that one parent will be obligated to pay to the other parent.

Child support can be requested at the same time that the petition for dissolution is filed.

The only time that child support is an issue is when a parent is hiding income.  This creates extra work for the other parent and the attorney.

If child support is the only reason that you need an attorney, then it is best to go to the local child support agency and open a case with it.  This service is provided at no cost to you.

If you are going through a divorce or have not been married and need to resolve custody issues, then make sure that the attorney addresses your need for child support along with the issues pertaining to custody and visitation in the documents that are being filed.

There are other issues with regard to child support that may or may not be an issue in your case, but Healy & Associates handle all aspects of child support, such as:

  • Wage Assignment Orders

  • Failure to Pay

  • Modification

  • Paternity

  • Remarriage

  • Tax Issues

All of the issues that a person may face during a divorce are not addressed here.  If you have any specific questions pertaining to your divorce, please click here.
